Immerse yourself in traditional craftsmanship at Saboterie Haeberlé
Step inside a real working clog-making workshop!
In Luttenbach-près-Munster, Pauline welcomes you to her family's clog workshop, where she is reviving a rare and valuable craft that has been passed down through several generations. During this guided tour, discover all the stages involved in creating a pair of clogs: from choosing the wood to shaping it on century-old machines, right through to the hand-finished touches. You will see, hear and feel the material being transformed before your eyes. Pauline will enthusiastically share with you the history of clog-making in Alsace and anecdotes about this unique workshop, a living witness to a disappearing craft tradition.
To extend the experience, discover her world of handcrafted wooden goods. Pauline creates solid wood objects sourced from local forests: naturally shaped kitchen boards, serving trays, wall-mounted bottle openers, engraved hearts, Christmas baubles and seasonal decorations. Each piece is handmade with the same attention to detail. Some can be engraved and personalised to create a unique gift or an authentic souvenir of your visit.
Practical information:
Duration: 1 hour
Minimum age: no minimum age
Baby carriers: permitted
Dogs on leads permitted
Prices: From 16 years old: €4
Tips and recommendations:
Please note: the machines are noisy when in operation. If you are sensitive to noise, please bring ear protection. Wood chips may fly around the workshop during the demonstration. This is not fine dust, as the wood is worked wet: the sawdust is heavy and non-irritating.
The workshop is located along the main road and is easily recognisable by the stacked logs in front. The entrance for cars is at the beginning of the logs: you can drive up to the top to park in front of the workshop. Parking on the side of the road is prohibited: please follow the signs.
Please note:
You must make your own way to the clog factory by private vehicle.
The outing is confirmed with a minimum of two participants. If there are not enough participants, you will be notified and given a full refund, or your activity may be rescheduled.
